NAPAMA Retreat

Ft. Lauderdale is one of my favorite cities. If I didn’t live in Orlando, I’d probably live there. NAPAMA held their annual Agents and Managers Retreat the past few days. This was my first experience with NAPAMA. This is an incredible organization of very friendly peers trying to help each other in their profession. They were nice enough to let me talk for about an hour about CWAs and the IRS – while occasionally glancing at the Atlantic Ocean…

Irish and Celtic Festival Conference

St. Paul Minnesota was the home of this year’s conference. I have so much fun spending time with the folks at the conference. They had the largest group of attendees ever. These folks understand CWAs and 30% withholding very, very well. What a pleasure to talk with them about the latest happenings in the world of CWAs.

Personal Managers Interchange

I just returned home from my first trip to Palm Springs. I would be very happy to live there.
The event was the inaugural Personal Managers Interchange hosted by the National Conference of Personal Managers.
I had an opportunity to meet Ken Kragen, the man behind “We Are the World” and “Hands Across America.”
What a truly genuine guy.

ULTRA!

Miami Beach is amazing. If you have not been there in a while, please make plans to go. Jackie and I drove down for our first visit to Ultra Music Festival. Normally we are not late nighters. Ultra is one of those places that my college fraternity brother, Fitz used to say, “If it ain’t all night, it ain’t all right.”

JIVE!

Yesterday, Jackie and I had the opportunity to enjoy one of the best shows we have ever seen. The Jive Aces performed at the Maxwell C King Center in Melbourne, FL – about an hour drive from Orlando. This was a Sunday matinee and the house was full. Not one, not two, not three – yes, four standing ovations by the audience. This group has been together for a long time and it is obvious how smooth and rehearsed they are. No wonder they almost won the 2012 edition of Britain’s Got Talent. If the Jive Aces are coming to your town, get your tickets early. They will sell out. You do not want to miss their show. For more information, check out their website.

ROAMin’

Last night Jackie and I ventured into Downtown Orlando on a Saturday night for the first time in quite a while. Our new client from the UK, ROAM was performing at The Social. We knew they would hit the stage at 7:00 and they would be one of the opening acts. As it was a rainy night, Jackie decided we should get there a bit early. That turned out to be a spectacular decision as the house was full by 6:30PM. This tour is their first trip to the US and the crowd appeared to be there specifically to see them perform. Their style of music is described in Great Britain as Pop/Punk and it was fantastic. A couple of folks asked if Jackie was their mother and I was their grandfather…….We had the opportunity to meet the guys and spend some time with them. Great guys. Based on the crowd’s reaction, they will be back in the US soon and you can follow them from their Facebook page.

Here are some photos from their visit and performance in Orlando:

New York City – APAP 2015

Mother Nature was not kind to us at this year’s Association of Performing Arts Presenters (APAP). Windy, rainy and cold. And more cold. I brought two sets of gloves. There is a reason why I live in Florida. If it gets below 70 degrees, we don’t pay state income tax.

Irish Fest!

Jackie and I just returned from Irish Fest for the second time in four years. I love the city of Milwaukee.
If you haven’t been there – you should. I would vacation there every year if time allowed.
Once again the weather was perfect – although the folks from Ireland were a bit surprised at 75-80 degree weather.
We had a lot of clients performing. The Red Hot Chilli Pipers were taping for a DVD.

Dublin!

The Dublin (Ohio) Irish Festival just finished a spectacular three-day weekend. Our Accounting Coordinator Extraordinaire, Linda Willis was there with her husband to see a number of our clients perform. Here is a photo of Linda with We Banjo 3. When you look at their website, there are four of them. Maybe next year, there will be five……….

Working for the Weekend!

Last night, Jackie and I went to the outdoor concert here in Orlando to see our client Loverboy. It was a Fabulous show and the packed crowd went nuts.
I have not stopped singing their songs, and fortunately for the neighbors – not out loud.
Here is an action photo of us with the guys prior to them jumping up on stage. Everyone is laughing because, just before the picture was taken, Mike Reno said I would look a whole lot better if I was wearing a bandana like his.
