Boys Night Out

Got to catch Boys Night out at The Beacham and meet some of the Boys themselves! Great guys and very much looking forward to their 2nd tour later this year!

Nasty

The gents in Nasty put on an absolute NASTY show (pardon the pun). Been a while since I’ve been a hardcore show and it had my metal roots feeling incredibly nostalgic.

Ultra Sunn

Dark Wave, the subgenre most associated with Ultra Sunn, might just be the apex of music for me and Ultra Sunn is a prime example of it. Their music is retro yet futuristic. It’s got it’s roots in early punk and metal but with incredibly infectious, dance aspects to it as well with heavy, electronic elements. It’s music you could rave to and simultaneously, take a reflective but ominous, night drive to. All of the acts were incredibly fun, and I truly hope Ultra Sunn follow up their first Tampa performance with a date in Orlando!

Ensiferum

I think Ensiferum is the closest my 1996 self will get to experiencing a metal show in the 80’s. Swap out today’s metalcore vaping for tons of tobacco and cigarettes (even some cigars). Take out the overly-self serious, aesthetic obsessed state metal has been in for the last few years and insert some guys incredibly talented and serious about their craft having fun making viking metal! More accurately they play Finnish Folk Metal, telling stories about all kinds of Nordic legends and myths. It was such a fun and refreshing experience, I immediately saved a few songs and would love to catch them again next time they come to Florida! And in their wise words: RUM! WOMEN! VICTORY!

Inhaler

If you thought boy bands from the 2000’s were gone you’re wrong, they’ve just evolved (and definitely for the better). Inhaler had all the charm and allure your favorite 90’s or ought’s boy band but swap out the dancing for instruments. The fans were rabid, the girls went crazy, and the boys put on a great show!

Palace

The guys in Palace put on a great show at the Beacham. It fell on a Tuesday, but it felt like a Friday night in the room, as the energy and reception the guys received was vibrant. After the show the guys were so incredibly pleasant and I got some incredible cocktail recipes I still need to try!

LF System

I had the pleasure of catching LF System back stage at their Orlando show! I’ve been to several DJ’d sets around Orlando, but this was my first time catching LF and being at Elixir. Both definitely did not disappoint!

Counterparts

Counterparts is becoming a February tradition here that I am so happy with. One of the best heavy bands around and always a pleasure to work with them.

Moontricks

If you had told me that a band with banjos, dance beats, and harmonica solos would work so well, I would not have believed you prior to Moontricks. A wonderful blend of folk and contemporary music and a joy to catch live. A special thanks to Sean for taking the time to chat after the performance as well!
